One of Toby’s earliest and fondest memories of his childhood is when his father showed him how to open a pocket watch to observe the movement. At the age of 14, he was buying and selling watches along Portobello Road from his grandfather’s antiques shop. Although watches were a passion for his from an early age, he decided to work as a stock market trader in the City of London. Toby quickly realised that he had to work in the same field as his passion, and together with his father, started Watches of Knightsbridge, a specialist auctioneers or fine, rare & collectable timepieces. After 5 successful years establishing Watches of Knightsbridge, Toby went back to the drawing board with reviving Dennison, an idea he had whilst working at his trading desk in the City. The catalyst for the revival remains when he found a watchmakers who had purchased some original factory machines from the old technical director of Dennison many years ago.
